The mission of the Indiana University Research and Teaching Preserve is to provide natural field settings for research and teaching that complement existing facilities and infrastructure at Indiana University.
The RTP offers rare immersive experiences that can't be achieved in any building or classroom.Seeing the same passion I have for the outdoors blossom in hundreds of visitors every year is profoundly rewarding. I find great comfort in knowing the Preserve will continue to offer transformative experiences into the future.
Michael Chitwood, RTP Property Manager
We wish to acknowledge and honor the Indigneous communities native to this region, and recognize that the IURTP is built on Indigenous homelands and resources. We recognize the myaamiki, Lënape, Bodwéwadmik, and saawanwa people as past, present, and future caretakers of this land.
We are dedicated to amplifying Indigenous voice & perspective, improving community relationships, correcting the narrative, and making the IUB campus a more supportive and inclusive place for Native and Indigenous students, faculty & staff. We encourage everyone to engage with contemporary communities, to learn the histories of this land, to look at who has and does not have access to its resources, and to examine your own place, abilities, and obligations within this process of reparative work.
For more information, visit IU's First Nations Educational & Cultural Center
The IURTP serves the entire campus as well as our community, connecting people with nature. If you would like to help us sustain our efforts, through student scholarships or support for our programming, please consider giving now online or contact us with your specific interests.
