• The quality, feasibility, and appropriateness of the research being proposed

• The promise of positive intellectual growth, regardless of the specific outcome of the research

• Established academic credentials and background for conducting the proposed research

• Academic and intellectual support available to student to complete the research

• Support of the supervising faculty member

• A significant field component based on one or more of the IU RTP properties

All successful applications will include:

• A project title and basic demographic information on student researcher(s)

• A 100-word project summary

• A list of courses the student researcher(s) have taken related to their project

• A research proposal covering:

  • Purpose, contributions to field, plan, location, methods, timeline, and bibliography (2 pages max)

  • Mentorship plan (200–250 words maximum)

  • Work division plan for collaborative projects only (one-page maximum)

  • Budget, budget justification, and faculty sponsor’s departmental research account number (1 page maximum)
